A day before the introduction of a genetically engineered growth hormone designed to boost milk production in dairy cows, some of the country’s largest food companies and distributors took measures yesterday to restrict the use of the animal drug.

Among the companies moving to keep their dairy suppliers from using the gene-altered drug, the first important product of agriculture biotechnology to be used to produce food, were the Kroger Company, the nation’s largest supermarket chain, the Southland Corporation, owners and franchisers of 7-Eleven convenience stores, and Pathmark Stores Inc.

TOKYO, Friday, Feb. 4— Facing the harshest personal attacks of his tenure, Prime Minister Morihiro Hosokawa suffered a humiliating blow this morning when he was forced to abandon a plan for a $55 billion cut in income taxes and an even larger increase in sales taxes after three years.

Ichiro Ozawa, the strategist behind Mr. Hosokawa’s increasingly frail coalition Government, brought the governing coalition back from the brink of a split when he said at a news conference that efforts to find a compromise tax plan had failed and that the coalition parties had decided to start over.

Sociology is the study of how people interact with society, each other their environment, and their history. the difference between social science and natural science is that social science is examine human relationship and natural science is the intellectual academic endeavors designed to explain and predict the events in our natural environment. Social science are interested in anthropology, economics, political science and psychology and natural science are interested in biology, geology,chemistry, and physics (1). Social science studies money, gender, religion, power, facebook, school and behavior and natural science studies zebra, water, plants, trees, rocks and fish (2). The difference between sociology and other social science is that other social science can only focus on their own topics but sociology can focus on every other social science (3). Sociology is important because it study how people interact and it also studies the past events of people. 

“WAITING FOR GODOT” EXPOSITION

WHO ARE THEY?

n  They are two friends that find each other because they didn’t see each other for a long time and one is called Estragon and the other is called Vladimir. “Vladimir:Together again at last! We’ll have to celebrate this.”  Estragon is having trouble taking his boot off and since he has a long time he doesn’t take them off his feet hurt.  

WHERE ARE THEY?

n  Estragon is sitting on a low mound. Vladimir and Estragon are on a road they are sitting under a tree that does not have leaves. These tree represent that they are lonely and that the tree will grow back the leaves. There are not a lot of trees or houses around that road.ESTRAGON: Where are the leaves? VLADIMIR: It must be dead.

WHAT IS THE PROBLEM?

n  Vladimir and Estragon are waiting for Godot on the road. They will go back to the road tomorrow and the day after tomorrow and so on until they see Godot. They don’t know if they are in the right spot and they are waiting and waiting. “VLADIMIR: We’re waiting for Godot. ESTRAGON: (despairingly). Ah! (Pause.) You’re sure it was here?”

WHAT IS A CONECTION TO HUMAN CONDITION EXISTENTIALISM OR ABSURDSM?

n  The connection to human condition is that they live in a poor condition because Estragon had to sleep in a corner and he hasn’t take off his shoes for days that’s because they hurt a lot and also, that’s why the beat him up because since he was sleeping in the corner other people came and beat him maybe because he is poor and he has no home.

A PREDICTION…

n  A prediction of mines is that I think they are going to become closer friends because since they had a long time they didn’t see each other they might want to catch some of the old good times together.

Powaqqatsi means a life consuming another life.  This movie is called Powaqqqatsi because its showing the way people work hard in an inhuman condition to create their population, come with their culture, religion and help technology get develop. In other words people are working so others can have a good life.

Work

The three examples that support my decision are working in bad weather condition, working hard and working extremely dangerous conditions. Working in bad weather condition shows the idea of the word “Powaqqatsi” because people are working in every type of weather so people can have things in the future.   Working hard shows the idea of the word “Poaqqatsi” because they are working to help people in their lives. Working extremely dangerous condition shows that the human condition is bad for them because they have to work in places where they have to wear or do things that require materials that they don’t have. This shows the idea of Powaqqatsi because the word powaqqatsi means one life consuming another life and people in the movie were working hard to make other people lives easy.  

Religion/Tradition

The three examples that support my decision are worship, dancing and praying. Dancing shows that the human condition is good for people because they are following their culture and they want it to make it better. Worship shows the idea of the word “Powaqqatsi” because people are worshiping so others can help them in becoming better. Praying shows the idea of the word “Powaqqatsi” because people are praying in the streets naked to see if other people will join them pray. Each example supports my opinion because the word powaqqatsi means risking your life for others so they can have an easier life.

Modernity

The three examples that support my decision because I had to see how the technology develop and how communication became a part of the society, people went from living to villages to live in a large cities where technology play an important role in society. This shows that the human condition is getting better and better because of the people that work hard enough so others can live a live with more opportunities and more things that made the society stronger and better.

Notice: Estragon and Vladimir are friends that did not saw each other for a long time; they are in a road sitting down under a tree that doesn’t have leaves. They are homeless and live in a place where the got beat up.
